About Emily Hansen
After obtaining my Bachelor of Fine art in painting from Pacific Lutheran University, and attending the University of Washington for my Certificate of Natural Science Illustration, I have taken time to focus on my artwork. I am a highly passionate artist, and I want to make art my main career. However, I am a realistic individual, and work a full time job. My interests span oceans, as you can see in my works. Nature, animals, the human figure, and emotions are common topics within my artwork. Beyond that I enjoy reading fantasy and fiction novels, listening to music and podcasts, spending time with family and traveling. I find a lot of inspiration in travel, and look for imagery I can use in my artwork when I drive across Washington.
Life has greatly changed in the last few years, luckily mostly good changes. In October of 2023, I was lucky enough to marry my wonderful, kind and supportive husband. As a science minded person, he greatly appreciates the art that fills our home, and is ever my #1 fan. We often hike when the weather is good (not a monsoon) and that really puts a breath of fresh air into everything in life. It has been difficult to get back into the art gear after planning a wedding but slowly the new me is poking up out of the ground, ready to create.
I feel very lucky to live so close to so many state parks and stunning hikes. Taking advantage of all of the amazing places around Washington is really important to me as a person as well as the development of my art. It’s very important to me to obtain my own reference material, and I’ve been very lucky in my bird watching!
Lastly, I have a firm belief that anyone can be an artist. Never doubt yourself.
